BASIC SWAHILI GREATINGS

Let us begin by know some basics Swahili greetings and their way of pronunciation
the common swahili greeting which can be used at any time is ''MAMBO'' pronounced as /mum-bo/  which means HELLO or HI in English and the reply is POA  /po-are/
DURING MORNING TIME
first the term MORNING means ASUBUHI  /are-sou-boo-he/ in swahili so the follows are common swahili greating

  • GOOD MORNING = HABARI ZA ASUBUHI    pronounced as /'her-bar-le za her-sou-bou-he/
Also during morning the greeting from junior to senior is SHIKAMOO /she- car -mooh/
DURING AFTERNOON
the term afternoon means MCHANA /M-cha-ner/
  • GOOD AFTERNOON = HABARI ZA MCHANA pronounced as /her - bar -le za  m-cha-ner/
DURING EVENING TIME
the term EVENING means JIONI /g - on/
  • GOOD EVENING= HABARI ZA JIONI pronounced as /her - bar -le za g - on/
